Nohea Cafe was started by mother and daughter team, Shirley Garcia and Michelle Mochoruk. Opening a cafe together has been a lifelong dream for Shirley and Michelle ever since they visited a small cafe on the North Shore of Oahu also owned by a mother-daughter team. Hence where the name Nohea Cafe comes from. Nohea is a Hawaiian word meaning lovely or loveliness. Shirley has been in the restaurant and catering business for over 15 years managing, cooking and catering for many top Chicago restaurants and markets!
Michelle and Shirley opened Nohea Cafe in December of 2009 in the friendly neighborhood of Roscoe Village. Their goal is to create a warm, comfortable and friendly place to come where you can kick back, relax, enjoy some good food and feel like you're sitting in your own living room! So, next time you're in the neighborhood stop in and say hello and enjoy a sandwich or one of our many homemade specials!
"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in." Matthew 25:35
